Windshield Replacement in Denver, Colorado

A New Windshield Is Only as Good as the Installation Behind It

Your windshield does more than keep wind, weather, and road debris out of your vehicle. When it needs to be replaced, the way the new glass is installed matters just as much as the glass itself.

Cornerstone provides professional windshield replacement in Denver, Colorado, the foothills, and surrounding Front Range communities. Since 2001, we’ve built our approach around doing the work correctly, from preparing the vehicle and placing the new glass to allowing the adhesive to cure and recalibrating vehicle cameras when required.

No rushing. No covering up problems beneath the glass. No shortcuts where safety is concerned.

When Does a Windshield Need to Be Replaced?

Not every damaged windshield needs to come out.

Some rock chips and minor damage can be repaired, depending on their size, location, and condition. Other damage compromises the glass enough that replacement is the appropriate option.

Replacement isn’t automatically the answer just because your windshield is damaged. Cornerstone can inspect the glass and determine whether the damage can still be safely repaired or a windshield glass replacement is necessary. If repair is the better option, we’ll tell you that, too.

What Goes Into a Proper Windshield Replacement?

From the outside, replacing a windshield can look fairly simple: remove the old glass and install the new one.

There’s a lot more happening underneath.

Before the new windshield goes in, the old glass has to come out and the installation area has to be properly prepared.

That includes the windshield pinch weld, the area of the vehicle where the windshield is bonded in place. Cornerstone takes the time to prepare this surface correctly, use appropriate primers where needed, and address problems that could interfere with the installation.

We also remove the appropriate components rather than trying to work around them just to save time.

The bond holding your windshield in place matters.

Cornerstone uses Sika products and follows the appropriate procedures for primers and windshield urethane during installation. Applying the right materials correctly and respecting their cure requirements are important parts of creating the bond the windshield depends on.

It’s work you may never see once the vehicle is put back together.

That doesn’t make it any less important.

Cornerstone uses two-person teams for windshield installations.

Having two technicians involved provides better control as the glass is positioned and set. It also gives our technicians an opportunity to work alongside one another, share knowledge, and continue passing down the installation standards Cornerstone has developed over decades in the auto glass industry.

The goal isn’t to get the glass in as quickly as possible.

It's to get it in correctly.

What If We Find Rust Under Your Windshield?

Rust and corrosion aren’t always visible until the old windshield comes out. If they’re present around the opening, they can affect the surface the new glass needs to bond to.

Installing directly over that problem doesn’t make it disappear. It simply hides it again.

When Cornerstone encounters corrosion during a windshield replacement, we don’t cover it up and hope for the best. We evaluate what we’ve found and address the situation appropriately before moving forward with the installation.

Rust or corrosion can add an unexpected step to a windshield replacement, but it’s not something we believe in covering up. We’ll show you what we found, explain how it could affect the installation, and discuss any windshield rust repair or surface preparation that needs to happen before the new glass goes in.

Does Your Windshield Have a Camera?

If there’s a camera mounted behind your windshield, replacing the glass is only part of the job.

Modern vehicles may use windshield-mounted cameras as part of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) for features that depend on the camera having the correct view and alignment.

When a camera is present, ADAS recalibration is always required after windshield replacement.

Cornerstone performs that calibration in-house. That means you don’t have to have the windshield installed in one place and then figure out where to take the vehicle for the required calibration afterward.

We’ll handle both parts of the job and make sure the required recalibration is completed before we’re finished.

How Long Does It Take to Replace a Windshield?

Every windshield replacement is a little different. The vehicle, glass, condition of the installation area, and any additional work we uncover can all affect how long the job takes.

Cornerstone won’t rush those steps simply to get a vehicle out the door faster.

There’s also an important difference between how long a windshield replacement takes and when the vehicle is ready to return to the road.

How Long After Windshield Replacement Can I Drive?

A newly installed windshield needs time for the urethane to cure sufficiently before the vehicle is driven.

The appropriate safe drive-away time can depend on the materials and conditions involved in the installation. Cornerstone follows the applicable requirements and will let you know when your vehicle is ready to drive safely.

If that means waiting a little longer, we wait.

Safety sets the schedule.

Can Windshield Replacement Come to You?

For many vehicles and situations, yes.

Cornerstone provides mobile windshield replacement throughout eligible areas of the Denver Metro, Colorado foothills, and surrounding Front Range communities. Our technicians can perform many replacements at your home, workplace, or another suitable location.

Some jobs may be better handled at our Conifer shop depending on the vehicle, conditions, or work required.

Tell us about your vehicle, where you’re located, and what’s happening with the windshield. We’ll let you know whether mobile or in-shop service makes the most sense.

Using Insurance for Windshield Replacement?

You can still choose Cornerstone.

We work with all insurance companies and are on every auto glass billing company’s approved provider list. Your policy doesn’t have to be from Colorado, either. If you’re insured in another state but need windshield replacement in Colorado, we can still work with your insurance company.

Let us know you’re planning to use insurance when you contact us, and we’ll help you through the process and make sure the appropriate information gets where it needs to go.

Windshield Replacement Without the Shortcuts

Much of what separates one windshield installation from another disappears as soon as the job is finished.

You won’t necessarily see the pinch weld preparation beneath the glass. You won’t see the primers or urethane once everything is back together. You may never know that corrosion was found and addressed before your new windshield went in.

But those details still matter.

Cornerstone’s technicians are individually AGSC- and Sika-certified through testing, and we’ve been serving Colorado drivers since 2001. We believe a windshield replacement should be done with the same care whether the customer can see every step or not.

Because when your windshield is part of the vehicle protecting you on the road, how the job was done matters long after the glass looks new.
