A rock hits your windshield on the highway. You hear that unmistakable pop, and suddenly there’s a chip or small crack in the glass.
Does the whole windshield need to be replaced? Not necessarily.
Cornerstone provides professional windshield repair in Denver, Colorado, the foothills, and surrounding Front Range communities. We evaluate the damage, explain your options, and determine whether a repair can safely address the problem or replacement is necessary.
If the damage can be repaired, we’ll tell you. If it can’t, we’ll explain why.
Because the goal isn’t to sell you a new windshield. It’s to help you take care of the one you have.
Not every chip or crack means your windshield needs to be replaced. But not every damaged windshield is a good candidate for repair, either.
Several factors influence whether a repair is appropriate, including:
Cornerstone evaluates these factors before recommending a course of action.
Sometimes a rock leaves a small mark on your windshield. Other times, you’ll see little cracks spreading out from where it hit.
Either way, the damage may still be a candidate for windshield chip repair, depending on its size, location, and condition. The important thing is to have the chip evaluated before it develops into something more extensive.
A crack doesn’t automatically rule out repair, but its size, location, and condition matter.
Some minor cracks may be repairable. Others may be too extensive, poorly positioned, or otherwise unsuitable for a safe repair.
Rather than promising that every crack can be fixed, we’ll inspect the damage and explain whether windshield crack repair is appropriate for your vehicle. If replacement is necessary, we’ll walk you through that option, too.
It’s tempting to ignore a small chip when you can still see through your windshield just fine. The trouble is, that little mark may not stay little.
Changes in temperature, bumps in the road, and normal driving vibrations can put additional stress on the damaged glass. A chip that might have been repairable can develop into a longer crack, potentially making replacement necessary.

Colorado driving conditions give windshields plenty to contend with, from loose gravel and highway debris to changing temperatures. Scheduling rock chip repair early gives us an opportunity to evaluate the damage while repair may still be an option.
And if you’re unsure whether that little mark is worth having inspected? Ask us. We’d rather help you understand what you’re looking at than have you wait until the decision is made for you.
Windshield repair is more involved than simply filling a visible chip.
For qualifying damage, the process generally involves preparing the damaged area and introducing a specialized repair resin into it. The resin is then cured and the surface finished. The goal is to stabilize the damage and improve its appearance, although the approach depends on what we find.
Cornerstone evaluates the windshield before proceeding to make sure repair is appropriate. It may be a smaller job than replacing an entire windshield, but that doesn’t mean we take it any less seriously.
This is one of the most important things to understand before having a windshield repaired.
A successful repair doesn’t necessarily make the damage invisible. The resin can improve the appearance of a chip or crack, sometimes considerably. Sometimes a repair leaves very little visible evidence. Other times, you can still see where the rock hit.
We’ll explain what’s realistic for your particular windshield rather than promise to make every trace of the damage disappear. We won’t promise that your windshield will look as though nothing ever happened if that isn’t something the repair can deliver.
Sometimes the damage is simply beyond what a repair can safely address.
A large or spreading crack, damage in a critical location, or a chip that has compromised the glass too extensively may mean replacing the windshield is the appropriate solution.
Cornerstone won’t recommend repair when replacement is necessary. But we won’t automatically recommend replacement when a safe repair is still possible, either.
If your windshield needs to be replaced, we’ll explain what we found and what the next steps involve. Our replacement services include proper preparation of the vehicle, professional installation, appropriate adhesive cure times, and in-house ADAS recalibration when a windshield-mounted camera is present.
In many cases, yes.
